HAIR TRENDS: THE LOB

lobThe ‘Lob’, (meaning long bob), is a look that’s been around for quite a while now, but initially only sponsored by the likes of quirky celeb fashionistas such as Alexa Chung and Fearne Cotton. More recently, however, it’s become more and more of a fashion statement and is being adopted by an ever-increasing amount of big names.
Taylor Swift, Kylie Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Lawrence and Lucy Hale are just a few among other celebs to have taken on this new, trendy look. Light and easy for the summer seasons and easily maintained in the cold winter weather, it’s a solid all-rounder and is said to suit any face shape/hair type!lucy hale lob
This cut is said to elongate the neck, whilst drawing more attention to the face and making the hair appear fuller and thicker. For those of you yearning for a change, yet nervous to get ‘the chop’, a lob might just be the solution for you. It’s not quite the commitment of a full on bob or pixie cut, however it’ll certainly give you a fresh, edgy look without having to cut the whole lot.
The key feature of the ‘lob’ is that the ends of the hair are full, thick and very blunt. To pull off this statement look, your hair must be thick and healthy, otherwise your beautiful vision of a full bodied head of hair will be, in reality, a limp shoulder length number- somewhat like your mum might’ve made you have for a new school year. Not the sophisticated look we aspire to.

So how do we achieve a flawless ‘lob’?
…With hair extensions, of course!
When many think of hair extensions, their instant association is with long length and glamorous curls, however hair extensions have been effectively used for many years to add volume to thin or fine hair, and the lob is a perfect fit for this. By simply adding a half head of hair extensions and having them cut into a lob, you can achieve that beautiful blunt finish with ease.
